hi … the prep group has some ideas about displaying the “objects” in the gallery … what about the use of city maps as a “foundation” on which the objects are placed? this might connect the objects back to the city rather than have them so separated on plinths … hopefully we can discuss this in greater detail thursday. cheers!

I suggest that we simplify the display.. but i dont thik that podiums are really the most interesting way of puting this collection of found objects together… I think it would be interesting to enlarge a city map of chicago and use the blocks as spaces for displaying the objects. That way people who are observing the space are drawn into the idea of found objects in a city setting. Also I think that we are going to have to have the class create boxes… since we have only had one response to our call for submission so far…. it could be fun. See you tomorow

in terms of the pedestal, a few of us discussed using tall thin boxes as a way to mimic the pedestal while keeping with the box theme.
ive sent out the call for submissions to all of my classes and i dont know how secure a verbal “i am going to participate” is but ive had a reasonably good number of people tell me they want ‘in’.

I think it would be neat if we used upside-down metal trash cans, you know, like the one Oscar the Grouch lived in on Sesamee Street as pedestals. Also, like Bailey said, pleeeeaaaaase let the documentors know when things are happening. If you don’t we have no way of doing our job.

Has anyone seen the Paul Miller exhibit? Check it out, I saw it and think will work nicely with our street theme

in terms of flyers they are done and posted up on all buildings and dorms.

i dont know who is in charge of the facebook thing but i think we need to make it more clear that we NEED WORK and its not just a “come to our event!” but a “do some work get it in be a part of the group and put it on your resume”
i really think if we can push it on facebook we could be really successful
